I'Chelmee (pronounced Eye-Shell-Me) is one of the original members of the international renowned collective, Social Misfits. He hails from the Caribbean ghettos of Saint-Claude, Guadeloupe (aka Gwada), was raised in the concrete jungles of Paris and hes currently operating from the grimey ends of London.



He is a diverse artist whose music encompasses many influences from his travels and upbringing. Like many who grew up in the Caribbean Islands in the late 70s and throughout the 80s he grew up surrounded by a hybrid musical staple of Pop, Soul, Zouk, Reggae, Easy listening classics, Funk, Disco, Country and Western, Electro, etc. In his early teens he was travelling back and forth to the French capital where he was fully exposed to a culture he would later embrace, Hiphop.



I'Chelmee easily intertwines his background and musical upbringing to present himself as a hiphop artist with a unique style, presence and versatility. His unique style is vibrant, broad and colourful, and best described as a fine balance of heartfelt consciousness with a dash of typical b-boy cockiness. His creative writing and rhythmic flow conjures witty bi-lingual word play, engaging story-telling, social observations, creative idealisms, hidden metaphors and double meanings.



Spreading The Vibe [LONDON PARIS GUADELOUPE] was his stellar 2005 debut album. A jubilant expedition that took you where hiphop exceeds its musical and lingual boundaries, where creative soundscapes appropriately interchange and where the narratives are fresh and nourishing. Presented in English, French and Creole the album is also an audio concoction of original and diverse blends of musical ingredients. From the melodious Caribbean spiced opening track to the beat-banging African drums of the closing track. I'Chelmee takes you on an all terrain hiphop journey. Stopping by in London where he takes you to sightsee the citys dungeon gutters, enjoys its nightlife and get avid observations from an immigrant living in this cosmopolitan capital. In Paris you are treated to similar adventures with differing plots; stories about an ambitious but struggling youth, plus the mandatory romantic tales from the city of love . Plus, whilst in Guadeloupe he shares stories about living on the bread-line , combats personal traumas and celebrates all his true loves.



I'Chelmee is now working on his anticipated sophomore album for 2007. The album title is yet to be revealed but songs recorded so far show that I'Chelmee and his creative team have already excelled his debut offering. Once again you got an eclectic collection of original and well thought-out songs that should definitely appeal to its intended cosmopolitan audience whilst further pushing forward the fast-developing international hip-hop movement. This time round you also got more conceptual songs, definitive songs that will bang in clubs, radios and ofcourse streets around the world. The songs featured on his music player here are testimony to that.
