Lots of interesting things have happened since I last updated my MySpace. I have a regular gig at The Crown in Cricklewood every Monday night. We play an eclectic mixture of jazz, funk and reggae, featuring some of my own tunes and a few jazz classics. I am performing at Ecstatic Dance events a couple of times a month with the fantastic percussion ensemble Urubu. We have just recorded a new CD which will be available soon. I am off on a European tour with the Australian band Unitopia. There music harks back to the heyday of 70’s progressive rock and there is plenty of space for cool saxophone breaks. I have also been performing with The Big Band Sound and Tina T’s Soul and R&B revue. All in all a busy few months.

Previous to this I was touring with the Roger Waters band performing"The Dark Side Of The Moon" and other major Pink Floyd tunes. This amazing period in my life lasted for about two years and took me to places I thought I would never visit such as Bombay, Lima, Bogota, Auckland, Sydney, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Mexico City .

My playing is featured on John Henry Lambert’s new album "Gone Away". This is a fascinating set of songs composed by John and recorded live at his house in Dartmoor. Details at his MySpace.

I also compose and produce music for TV. The Lonely Planet / Globetrekker Theme can be heard on the new Globetrekker / Pilot Guides ( depending on where you are in the world ) shows.

Previous to this I have produced a few records by Laurie Anderson, Pete Wylie, Roger Waters, Big Dish, Soho and Three o’ Clock amongst others. I spent a few years in Los Angeles writing songs ( "She’s Having A Baby" from the eponymous John Hughes film being the most well known ) and six months in New York producing Techno. I have toured with Deaf School ( who are doing a few reunion gigs later in the year ) and Jane Aire and the Belvederes and released my own electro pop records under the name Miro Miroe. Our hit ( I use the word loosely! ) "Nights Of Arabia" has just been re released on an 80's compilation cd on Blanco Y Negro.

I have been featured as saxophone soloist on records by Wham, Robbie Nevil, The Beach Boys and D.C. Lee and arranged and programmed for Dead or Alive, Howard Jones, David Sylvian, Steve Hillage and David Grant.

My website at www.ian-ritchie.com has more details about this part of my career.

I am now taking saxophone pupils. Please see my teaching webpage . or email for more details.

I am also offering online saxophone sessions.
