Ian Dury

The abrasive Ian dury always met life head on, in his relationships and in his music, and this is what made him stand out from the rest. This loud-mouthed, aggressive, punk-rock original took the world by storm with his contraversial and outstandingly crazy tunes. From the creation of Dury's dangerous image at art school, through the long and spasmodic history of The Blockheads, there emerges a portrait of a uniquely strong personality whose appetites and talents spanned fine art, jazz, rock 'n' roll, punk, theatre and movies. His alcaholic excess, sexual braggadocio and willful disregard for conventional behaviour, entertained - and occassionally exasperated - his many friends. Between the childhood polio, and the cancer that sadly killed him at only 57 years old, Ian Dury kept on going, always living life to the full. "I'm not here to be remembered. I'm here to be alive"



I set up this page in order to remember Ian, and as a place for people to talk and enjoy eachothers company and views on Ian and the music.
