Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx by a West Indian mother helped him develop his humbleness and well-rounded personality. VERSE is a hard-working MC, that was inspired by poetry, which started the writing of poems in class. As the introduction of the art form of rap embraced this young's man life, he was transformed forever. Withdrawn, to some anti-social. Verse was not one to follow the crowd nor was he interested in the crowd following him. He was and is in his own lane. This was made manifest at his high school, the artistic REPORTORY TOWN HALL COMPANY, where he thrilled them not only with clever wordplay, but showed his musical abilities by playing the piano, his musical instrument of choice to this day. Everyone, students, teachers, the principal, even his mother starting calling him 'Verse'. At this point the art of battling emerged in this young's man life, moving to Harlem for a period, it took dramatic turns. Many nights were spent at the FIGHT CLUB, for those in the know. Engaging in lyrical battles was a good learning experience and sharpened his craft overall. Of course with that came competition after competition of which victory was the outcome on most occasions. Never acknowledging them as battles, he just wanted to be heard. Soon labels heard the news and BAD BOY Ent. became interested. Through BigThings Production Co., which is owned by one of the 'HITMEN' [Producers for Bad Boy Ent.] Verse, though a solo artist, ended up in a group signed to Bad Boy Ent. One day you will hear the full story on vh1driven, mtv or bet. Not the ideal situation for an artist such as Verse, but it offered the opportunity to again sharpen his craft and to work with veterans in the biz such as; P. Diddy Combs, Harvey Pierre, 112, Loon, G Dep, DJ Marv., Dame Grease, Jimi Kendricks and Carlyle Young just to name a few. The experience of the HIP HOP PROJECT itself [ go to hiphop project.com ] as well as making the movie 'The Hip Hop Project' with project director Russell Simmons and film producers Bruce Willis and Queen Latifah gave Verse a chance to embrace self awareness as well as to learn about the music and film industries. And most important, to always stick to creating music from your experience and heart. Having written the title track 'ANNE B. REAL' for the said named movie, of which numerous awards were won including but not limited to; Best Dramatic Feature--Santa Monica Festival. BlockBuster Audience Award--American Black Film Festival. Best of Festival--Sedona Film Festival. Also featured in the film are two other Verse tracks. As well as presently having the opportunity to work with TriggerHappy/Brobot and their artists, the RETRO KIDZ. Upon returning this fall from a short tour of Guam with the Hip Hop Project and having time to have totally reflected on his past, Verse is completely focused on the thing dearest to his heart, THE MUSIC!! The journey has just begun. ONE
