Huxley Vertical Cabaret Nouveau was founded in 2005 in Austin, TX. Eventually, singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Seth Bedford relocated to NYC and reestablished the ensemble in its current lineup of two violins, viola, bass, piano, trumpet, accordion, and voice, with sometimes mandolin, toy piano, and other instruments.



The band has since released its first full-length album, Huxley Vertical Cabaret Nouveau and frequently performs at New York City's Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Musically, Huxley Vertical is a combination of French chanson, Weimar kabarett and American Jazz and vaudeville for a sound uniquely antique and modern at the same time. The band lists the likes of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Tom Waits, The Dresden Dolls, Kurt Weill and Eurythmics among its primary influences.
