Hugh Scott Murray III 'If the kit don't swing.the boy don't sing'

He is a born entertainer who has traveled the world performing the swing/roots based tunes he writes in

legendary rooms like Tipitinas in New Orleans, The Continental club in Austin and Nashville's EXIT/IN.

His energy as an artist has had legends of music and film pick him up from the road side, pass on 'the rub', before sending him off on another musical odyssey. Hampton Fancher, who wrote the movie Bladerunner, dubbed him 'the modern day troubadour', sending him cassette tapes of his favourite New York jazz artists from the U.S. for inspiration while Hughie was back in Australia. R&B singing legend Lou Rawls scrawled lyrics down as the two worked on a new song in the back seat of an L.A. Limo en route to his concert. Winding through the deep south on tour buses with INXS and country star Keith Urban he has writing credits with both Grammy winning acts.

Swing that incorporates a back beat from somewhere east of New Orleans is what come natural to the piano player/singer.

"Since recording my last album in Nashville last year I've felt drawn back to my first love, which is the swing/ New Orleans style tunes I write . It is the musical junkets out to other places, with other artists that inspire the attempts to bring something new to the swing music genre."

Back in Australia he is currently putting together an Australian chapter of the 'Big Ol' bus Band' that he started in Nashville. They will be performing a theatre show which will be filmed on November 29th. It will feature all the new songs and some classic from albums and tours past
