Holy Cross

Holy Cross are a French heavy metal band whose powerful songs are largely inspired by Scandinavian mythology and by the golden age of heavy metal in the 80’s.

The idea of forming a heavy metal band came from the two current guitarists, Loïc Chalindar and Adrien Liborio, in 2003, whose influences range from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Megadeth to Iced Earth and AC/DC. But Holy Cross was actually formed three years later, on Spring 2006, when drummer Thomas Chalindar completed the line up, followed a few months later by bassist Bertrand Carrot and vocalist Michäel Farre. At this time, Loïc Chalindar and Adrien Liborio had already written several musical pieces, which made it possible for the band to play their first concert on December 2006 in Saint Etienne, France. This first show was a great success so that the band recorded their first demo and kept touring. On May 2007, Holy Cross win the “Air de jeunes” contest, a French competition which aims at rewarding young musicians from any music style. The prize of the contest is the possibility for them to play in a first big concert hall, Le Firmament in Firminy, France. The shoot of the concert gives them the occasion to release their first live DVD.

On December 2007, Holy Cross decide to change their line-up and choose Mickaël Champon as new vocalist. This decision marks a turning point. Mickaël Champon, alias Mikey, gives the band the missing piece of the jigsaw: a real frontman. On January 2008, the new line-up record their second demo, MKII, whose title nods at the famous rock band Deep Purple. The adventure continues throughout 2008 with an insatiable appetite for concerts. The band decide to record their first album, “Under The Flag”. They begin recording on August 2008, putting a lot of time and effort in this project.

On May 2009, the album is complete, the quest goes on.
