Hit the Jackpot

Hit the Jackpot was formed, as a two piece, by Jess and Kynan in early 2003. Playing only drums and guitar they played a handful of shows before somehow scoring a Sonic Youth support in 2004. They released their debut, self titled EP at about the same time, which ended up coming in at number 3 in Adelaide radio station 3d’s top 100 for 2004. They were joined by Seb Calabretto (and a bass) in 2005 and released “Clowns” in 2006, and will shortly be releasing their new album “Soul Money Gang Vibe” through Chapter Music.



With Seb leaving for the grey shores of the UK earlier this year, Hit the Jackpot have recruited old friend Scott O’Hara, who also plays in other bands such as Lindsey Low Hand and True Radical Miracle.



Hit the Jackpot play simple, noisy pop songs, swap instruments, share vocals and believe that enthusiasm and sincerity is better than technical proficiency.



Hit the Jackpot have been fortunate enough to play with international acts such as Sonic Youth, Calvin Johnson, Vivian Girls, J Mascis, Dan Deacon, Pink Reason, Les Savy Fav, Mountain Goats and Stephen Malkmus and amazing and diverse Australian artists such as My Disco, The Lucksmiths, Crayon Fields, The Stabs, Clue to Kalo, Panel of Judges, Oren Ambarchi, Wolf and Cub, Architecture in Helsinki and Love of Diagrams.
