Formed in late 1999, (name inspired by Bass Player Ryan Davidson getting hit by a semi at age 13), their journey initially began as a local assault in their hometown of Chico, California. With the help of their 1979 Dodge Van "Touresa", Hit By A Semi quickly expanded their signature brand of Punk Rock n' roll anthems regionally throughout California, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. During that time they independently released a self-titled E.P. (2000), followed by their debut full-length:"Friends, Booze and Tattoos" (2001) on Sacred Art Records. "Friends, Booze and Tattoo's" sold out of its original pressing of 1,000 copies (with no distribution) and was re-pressed due to popular demand.

In 2003, the band relocated to Orange County, California, and that summer with their new van" Rockelle" did a self-booked U.S. Tour (to Chicago and back). Between touring, countless hours of promotion, and word of mouth reputation from their solid, dynamic, live shows, Hit By A Semi has recently begun to truely earn recognition on a national level. Their fan base continues to grow across the U.S. (and even internationally), due to their relentless promoting both online and on the streets with the help of their dedicated Street Team, the "Hit Squad".They have also been featured on the BMX DVD: Hit and Run and the Street Bike DVD: Road Rage 3. Their music has been aired on Cable TVs FOX Sports Net: Fuel TV and Project Detention. And in addition to countless college, independent and international/ internet radio airplay, they have recieved commercial radio airplay on Chico, CA's 106.7FM Z-Rock, L.A/Orange County's Indie 103.1FM (program: Check One-Two), and most recently on XM Radio's Fungus station (Program: Rancid Radio)

In November of 2005, Hit By A Semi released their much anticipated sophomore album "Midnight Riot" and immediately hit the road for yet another West Coast tour to support it's release. From their D.I.Y. hard work ethic to their passion for playing music simply for the love of it, Hit By A Semi continues to gain momentum and if their is one thing each member can agree on, it's that this journey has only just begun.
