A native of Toronto, Canada, Joseph Michael Borg has been involved with music since the age of 15. The younger sibling of a musician, Joseph would watch his brother's band rehearse and took note of the guitarist. Soon Joseph became a guitarist himself, often skipping school so he could improve his skills on the instrument. After six months of rigorous dedication, Joseph 'came out of hibernation' with an impressive, newly developed musical talent, his first of many. It was then that the term 'Hibernate' was born.
Experiencing the Toronto rave scene had a seductive influence on the young musician, eventually motivating him to create an elaborate studio and produce music of his own. In 2001 - after just one year of learning the ins and outs of the studio - Hibernate created one of the true gems of the anthem age: a melodic dance floor shaker entitled 'Tranzcanada'. Along with other early hits 'Mane Sonitus', 'Breakout' and 'Advent', 'Tranzcanada' received international airplay as well as accolades from superstar DJs like Paul Oakenfold and Armin Van Buuren.
After his success in the early 2000s, Hibernate began work on 'OCD'(2004, Radikal Records), a full length vocal album showcasing elements of rock and pop, blended smoothly into his trademark EDM style. Hibernate also showcased his musical background by performing lead vocals on every song, as well as laying down all the guitar tracks himself. His versatility paid off as 'OCD's lead single 'Submit' invaded the airwaves and dance floors worldwide, eventually making it into the top 20 on the US Billboard Club Chart.
In 2007, Hibernate continued his unique style with 'Away' (System Recordings), an album which seamlessly mixed progressive house, rock and pop. The album's lead single, 'She Told Me', was Hibernate's most successful track to date, receiving extensive play on internet radio, satellite radio and broadcast radio.
In 2009, Hibernate landed his latest major success, signing with Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Records to release the hauntingly ethereal 'Left Alone', a progressive masterpiece which became the lead track on Oakenfold's legendary 'Perfecto Vegas' compilation CD.
The first days of 2011 will mark Hibernate's latest offering to the EDM world: a collection of clean and melodic club tracks entitled 'Toronto the Creepy'. The album combines liquid house rhythms, electro flavoured percussion, organic vocals, and, of course, a neverending stream of synth-laced hooks. The lead single, 'That High', circulates into online music shops in early November, 2010.
