A few years ago Oli Irwin placed an AD in the local paper, Mat Key was looking for a band to join and replied. The two of them started playing covers at first and shortly after this booked there first gig. However they were a man short, cue an old school friend of Olis (Jordan West), who picked up as lead guitarist and vocalist. Their first ever two gigs saw them win a Battle Of The Bands competition.
Part of the prize for the win was recording time at a local studio. However Oli quickly became sick of being behind the drum-kit and so, a few shots later, Rob Perry was reeled in. Rob was playing semi-pro football in Bath at the time with the other three lads in near-by Bristol so it all worked out quite well. So with Oli and Jordan now
on Guitar and Vocals, Perry on the Drums and
Mat on the Bass, Hey Molly was formed.
In the spring of 2006 they found themselves in yet another competition, only this time the prize was much more valuable; the chance to support Muse at the Eden Project. They went on to win that competition and took to the stage as the first support act for Muse. Anyway, after a few rounds of the UK and countless tankers of cider, they woke in early 2007in the middle of a European Tour
For the next two years they toured the UK and Europe relentlessly playing over 300 shows at every pub, club, toilet and Festival this side of southern Spain.
In 2009 Hey Molly entered Sawmills Studio in Cornwall with Paul Reeve, Tom Joyce and Chris Wolstenholme.
Right now they are recording their debut E.P
'Backstreet Boozer Loser'. It will contain four tracks and
the release date will be confirmed soon.
