Here it is Italy-based solo artist Gioele Valenti aka HERSELF at its fourth official album, after lucky issues for Jestrai Records (VERDENA), and many minor episodes for foreign labels, now on DeAmbula Records, a label that includes in roster artists like ULAN BATOR and PINEDA.
Recorded between home and studio, these new 13 tracks combine intimate lo-fi folk attitude, which has always characterized the project, with the grain of Anglo-American tradition and exciting canterburian echoes or gothic elements - for a sound like Canterbury meets psychedelia.
Ideally a crossover between Bill Callahan and Sophia, the sound of selftitled HERSELF is, this time, enriched by the collaboration with Aldo Ammirata, Marco Campitelli (The Marigold) and Amaury Cambuzat (Ulan Bator) – who has played in the songs "Sugar Free Punk Rock" and "How You Killed Me" and took care of the mastering.
