"Heliphino uses pop, funk, and rock to fuse a sound that sounds something like a cross between Maroon 5 and Jamiroquai. Their infectious album "Make It What You Want" is definitely worth a listen."

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU CROSS A HIPPO, AN ELEPHANT, AND A RHINO?

HELL-IF-I-KNOW.

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU CROSS FUNK, ROCK, & SOUL? HELIPHINO.

This band is original. This band is talented. And this band is sexy.

"Heliphino’s songs deliver catchy hooks, soulful melodies and infectious rhythms. In fact, most of the material is memorable enough to stick in your mind for a long time."1 The success they’ve already achieved has come at a rapid pace. Heliphino was selected as one of ten Top Music Artists of 2006 and asked to perform for the Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival. At the festival Heliphino was voted “Best in Fest” and asked to perform an encore for the finale Black Tie Ceremony. Heliphino was consecutively named in the Annual Hot 100 Unsigned Artists by Music Connection magazine for 2006 & 20073. Also noteworthy was Heliphino’s national TV appearance on NBC’s hit show “America’s Got Talent”. After rigorous selection from thousands, Heliphino became one of only five bands to make it all the way to the semi-finals.

For the past two years, Heliphino has been playing all over the west and around their home base of Los Angeles. From high-profile Hollywood venues such as The Key Club and The Gig to underground hot spots like The Mint and The Good Hurt in West LA, Heliphino has left its mark. Heliphino’s past show at Hennessey’s Redondo Beach brought the packed house to a dancing, roaring, even moshing mass of excitement. The reviews keep coming:

"Heliphino has a playful stage presence and intelligent music that brings a positive spirit to all."1

"Heliphino is just good, and that’s it. There is no denying great talent."2

"The material is so commercially appealing it makes you want to know more about this band. Labels and radio stations should, at the very least, give this music a listen."1

"The group’s energetic performance, with its catchy lyrics has the ability to draw in an audience."4

Of recent shows they state "It was truly hard to take your eyes off [lead singer Stephen Kelly]; he was such a magnetic force. The group’s energetic performance, coupled with Kelly’s knack for interaction, kept the crowd dancing and singing along."1

It started in 2001 with lone New York transplant Amrir "Emery" Toufali, who called on previous writing partner Patrick Murphy to join him in Los Angeles. With the addition of drummer Bodin Sterba and Stephen Kelly on vocals, the winning lineup was finally solidified in 2005. "Kelly’s voice is something to be reckoned with. It grabs you by the ears with its funky groove and smooth flow. The rhythm section of Toufali and Sterba is a powerful package, with Toufali adding accents on his keyboard while playing bass. Murphy’s slick guitar work brings intriguing riffs that provide great chemistry to Kelly’s charming vocals."1

Heliphino is currently out promoting the release of their full-length debut album, “Make It What You Want”. Check out the SHOWS section for details on upcoming performances, and be sure to join them at myspace.com/heliphino.
