Chicago-born emcee, Omen (born Damon Coleman) goes his own route, delivering incredible songs shaped by rhymes, melodies and composition inspired, by some of his favorite artist growing up such as Nas, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Common. However, his most significant influences come from his own real life situations and emotions as well as his  vivid imagination.    Honest in rhyme, fresh in appearance and forward in thinking, Omen embodies a Chicago-confidence and originality seen most recently in the likes of hometown heavyweights Common, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. However, Omen is his own man. And at six-foot-three, he's head and shoulders above a sea of rap aspirants who simply cannot do what he does. Not only did he pen, produce and perform all the tracks on upcoming album Beyond, Omen composed the notes, hashed out the chords and arranged the instrumentation for much of the album, as well.    As comfortable and creative at the piano as he is in the recording booth, Omen's turned an everyday passion for music into a productive obsession. His efforts have resulted in a sound that, in his own words, “is nontraditional with old elements.”   Early in his career, Omen's main goals were sharpening his metaphors, exercising his wordplay and assembling devastating one-liners in preparation for the next cipher. Since then, both his purpose and technique have grown to become a true songwriter and composer. Just listen to the way he spits trippingly over the steadily gaining beat on title-track “Beyond,” the way he displays, his talent for storytelling in “Love Me So,” or even the way he proves his ability to traverse boundaries of style, genre and content on "Capital" featuring DJ Bonsu. Though he's matured as an artist, Omen's drive, intensity and hunger haven't waned a bit.    Omen began performing soon after graduating high school. He's taken the stage at Ohio's John Carrol University and at the University of Illinois. He's won over audiences in a number of Chicago-area appearances; most recently, he was featured at the Windy City's internationally-attended African Festival. Today, he works with a number of up-and-coming 'Go-getters, including recent collaborations with Gemstones of Lupe Fiasco's FNF music label, and soul singer Eric Roberson.   His name is Omen, “not like the movie[laughs]…it means a symbol, a foreshadowing or foretelling of what's to come,” as he puts it. "And I want my music to forever be a symbol and representation of the future, or of what's to come."
