hello. hans here. i make live music and recordings and films. i live in los angeles and play+record+shoot+screen a lot of different places in the u.s., canada, europe, australia, japan, mexico, argentina, taiwan, brazil. solo usually and sometimes with players on the scene like muhal richard abrams, george lewis, peter kowald, miya masaoka, lé quan ninh, lisle ellis, haco, yoshimi, money mark, david scott stone, g.e. stinson, audrey chen, baiyon, thomas dimuzio, uchihashi kazuhisa, marcos fernandes, mike keneally, donkey, trummerflora, nortec collective. these days i mostly make music with analog synths and vacuum tubes. or maybe homemade stuff or piano or theremin or church organ or sounds with my voice. been doing it for a long long time. and i made the docu film MOOG and FRONTIER LIFE and THE HEART IS A DRUM MACHINE and some other things. finishing two more docs WHEN THE WORLD BREAKS and MUSIC FOR ARCHITECTURE soon, then gearing up for LORDS OF CHAOS and SUNSET STRIP in the new year. i like hosting my monthly music show ResBox at the steve allen theater in hollywood, playing live gigs here and there, and making movies that are turning out mostly okay. i also do so like it when people come to my shows and buy my cd's and dvd's and when magazines say nice things about me."A master of analogue synthesis." - The Wire"Adding fractured melody and obscure structure to dissonant, dislocated fragments of sound, Fjellestad seems to have uncovered a new way of hearing the world." - Mojo"The soundtrack for the occasionally rain-soaked streets of LA after dark, when the city hums and grinds behind glittery scenes." - XLR8R"Fjellestad encapsulates the ethos of 'man and machine' perfectly." - DJ Magazine"One of the most interesting and active musicians in the LA improvisation scene." - Bomb Magazine
