Hannah Scott has been writing music for as long as she can remember but it was a year spent in Tuscany in her late teens that inspired her to start performing more seriously. The Suffolk-born artist's continued affinity with Italy has seen her spend much of the past year working from a hilltop studio overlooking the stunning Ligurian coastline.
The product is a new EP, 'Still Static', which showcases the attributes she is fast becoming known for: a powerful and distinctive voice, thought-provoking lyrics and melodies that remain with you long after you have finished listening. Produced by long-standing collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Stefano Della Casa, 'Still Static' features world-class musicians including David Clayton (Simply Red, Take That) and is already garnering interest from industry and audiences alike.
Last summer, Hannah was shortlisted from hundreds of entries for the final of MOJO Magazine's 'New Voice' competition. She was subsequently invited to perform at London's prestigious Gibson Guitar Studio and in the issue following the show MOJO declared "she can cut it live". She has since been featured regularly in the magazine.
Hannah has recently been invited to open for Norah Jones and she has supported artists including Ed Sheeran and Seth Lakeman. National airplay, headline shows at London venues of the calibre of Barfly and further gigs and festivals across the UK and Italy have helped her build a solid fanbase and the next few months look set to pave the way for even bigger things. "The sound of a professional musician who's paid her dues, done the groundwork and is now poised for a serious assault on the Radio 2 playlist. Sooner or later Hannah's combination of talent, charm and determination is certain to gain her the breakthrough she's seeking – and as far as I'm concerned it can't happen soon enough." – Tom Robinson, BBC6
"Hannah's entry immediately made those at MOJO HQ want to hear more. Tonight she proved she can cut it live as well as on record." – MOJO Magazine
"One of the best songwriters to come out of Suffolk in the last 30 years." – Stephen Foster, BBC Suffolk
