Celebrities like to have his name on their lips, models cling to his designer jeans like limpets and guys stare in envy at his completely spotless shoes. But these are all just side-effects: all of the fame which Hands Solo has experienced for years at home and abroad, and which has made him one of Switzerland's most sought-after urban DJs, stems from his unique flair for music. For dance music, that is.
After years of providing beats for the local rap-elite and setting up several residencies in Switzerland's most prominent clubs, then securing a presence in all corners of the globe with an EP released worldwide (Masked Avengers – "So Wonderful"), mixes which have been downloaded over 100,000 times in total, official compilations for Universal Music and regular guest mixes on Kiss100 London, this fully-qualified ladies' man has embarked on a campaign of conquest in person as well. He brings the party crowds to dizzying heights at the most exclusive clubs from Shanghai to Taipei, from Hong Kong to Germany and back home in Switzerland.
The reason is simple: what this guy conjures up with his speedy hands on the decks are quite simply the tastiest delicacies which can possibly be made from the assortment of danceable ingredients. With a mixing technique and attitude marked by his traditional schooling in Hip-Hop, Hands Solo mixes Rap, R&B, Disco, Soul, Pop, Electro and House in his sets, creating a programme that knows no breaks or interruptions. So it is no great surprise that Austrian national radio FM4 pronounced his "Dat Cheese" mix a "complete work of art".
Whether plying his trade alongside DJ legends such as Grandmaster Flash, DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff and super-producers like Mark Ronson, booked for private Bryan Adams showcases, captivating audiences in stadiums as the opening act for Enrique Iglesias, or getting thousands of football fans to do the Mexican wave at the official after party for the European Football Championship, he shows his dazzling class at every gig. Up to 150 times a year and at his two own nights – LUX at Indochine and GOSSIP at Jade, both members of the World's Finest Clubs – Zurich's prince of the needle serves up ecstatic escapism.
