Gunther Weezul was bound together by alcoholism in the summer of 2004, when Kasey Dorr and Mike Gregoire were bored of the same old hardcore/metal bands that they had been playing in for years. They decided to play a more stoner rock influenced style, but tried to keep the up tempo dancebeats in the songs as well. With the idea in hand they needed a drummer, so they went to the guilderland beverage center to recruit a drummer. Matt Fallon, one of the areas top drummers with one of the most unique style around was more than eager to jam with some of his oldest friends(and fans). With a bass spot open we recruited Todd Hildebrandt to play the slap bass. Soon following Mike's brother Adam was added on rythem guitar. The bass postion then gave way to new bass player, Mike 2. Gunther Weezul was born, and recording for a demo began!!! Just when it seemed stable, more miscummunication in the bass position aroused and bass player Jay Watkajtys was added to the band to hopefully be the last bass replacement. After two loooooong years , Gunther Weezul finally successfully finished the debut EP, "The Demon Lure," and signed with OveritRecords. Following this feat, came February 6, 2007, which was the day the world stood still for the band. Guitarist Mike Gregoire passed away suddenly due to a heart attack on that day leaving everyone in disbelief. After many weeks following the loss of Mike, the remainders of the band, including Mike's brother Adam realized that Mike would want Gunther Weezul to continue. The band decided to remain a four piece as to keep the band's unique style and bond. There was a need for change in the drum position for certain reasons, however. A good friend and awesome drummer Pete Vonstettina said he would be more than happy to help the band reach its long and short term goals. After many practices, the band decided that the sound and writing was where it needed to be with Kasey, Adam, Jay, and Pete. They have just finished their first full-length pounding album entitled "the sons of perdition," which tells stories of anger, loss, and perservering through the most difficult of feats. Along with the new album, the band has created a music video with Population 2 Media Production for "cemetery man," a track off the new album. Soooo, make way upstate New York for a new era in music.
