REVIEWS:
There is a little bit of a lot of stuff in every one of Guillermo Sexo’s compositions — the best way I can think of summarizing it is to say that they sound a bit like what would happen if Dinosaur Jr remade their first album but with Kristen Hersh helping out on vocals. But, as “Vivid Nights” proves, they are also a band that have transcended their many influences and become a truly unique and creative force in the Boston rock scene.” LOVE AND MATHEMATICS > 6.5.2010

Guillermo Sexo makes compelling guitar music the likes of which we are constantly on the hunt for in Boston. The tune reminds us a bit of the aforementioned Sky Larkin -- because the lead vocal is handled, presumably, by Noell Dorsey rather than fronter Reuben Bettstak --"Neon Lights" paired with some mid-period New Order chiming guitar and Kiss Me Deadly-ish sass in the chorus. “Vivid Nights took me on a magic carpet ride to galactic ecstasy. From the chaotic alterna-Brit sounds of the opening track “Solo Aches” to the ’70s, flower-power styling of “Crossbow,” I’m simply delighted. As I run to my closet to fetch my smoking jacket, geek glasses, and a martini, I can’t help but be impressed by Mr. Sexo’s skilled drum work and their fearless swerve into tripped-out fantasy excellence. I feel like I’m on drugs myself now and I’m pretty sure I haven’t taken anything since lunch time. Hell, at my next rage/orgy, I’m putting Vivid Nights in the CD player, dropping acid, and shagging every girl in the room baby! The Noise Boston July 2010

Sometimes they recall the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, sometimes Blood Red Shoes, and other times they nosedive into Sonic Youth noise. All three bands are gods in their respective scenes, so it speaks well for Sexo.“ - Boston Weekly Dig Blog
