As you wade through the mire of World Cup-related downloads, singles and downright dodgy ditties, there’s one song that shines out hotter than the South African sun.



‘I Don’t Like Football’ by Marcos D’Cruze takes 10cc’s classic No.1 hit ‘Dreadlock Holiday’, tears out the wicket and swaps it for goalposts.



Marcos scores a cracking goal with this stonking singalong. One listen and we’ll all be singing our boys onto the pitch in true Blighty style!



The inspiration for ‘I Don’t Like Football’ couldn’t have come from more bizarre circumstances – Marcos explains:. “I was filming three adverts in Spain with 10cc’s Kevin Godley for an Italian chocolate company, Baci Perugina. They’d shaved my head, sprayed me silver and dressed me in a blue suit with silver stars. After hanging out of a helicopter, holding back a 30ft tree and getting separated from my motorcycle in a side car I told Kevin Godley that I wanted to do the song in a football stylie. He said he liked the idea and 10 years later I’m finally releasing the song!”



‘I Don’t Like Football’ is available as a single download from www.marcosdcruze.com. It is also featured on the Cherry Red compilation Pretty England, released 31st May.
