"L'Orient sied à l'oreille : l'ondoiement des notes et des voix, le mariage de la langueur et de l'energie, le caractère presque odorant de la musique nous valent sans doute ce plaisir particulier.
C'est un jeune et heureux mélange réunis dans un Orient rêvé, mêlé d'Afrique et de chaleur latine.
On y voyage comme dans les contes, à dos de chameau ou en tapis volant, pour se perdre dans les médinas, y croiser la reine de Saba, Hélène de Troie et une lune bleue comme une orange. Un troubadour passe, chante une ballade, et l'on se dit à voix tombée des mots dont aucun n'est de trop. "
