Greazy Meal began in 1995 when a group of Minneapolis musicians who shared a love for the soul and R&B classics of the 70's and 80's threw together a weekly house gig at the Cabooze, a popular club for live music on the West Bank in Minneapolis.

The vibe was very casual and the band stretched classic Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield tunes into long funky jams that allowed the musicians to showcase their formidable instrumental talents. A couch was added to the stage decor to add to the soulful "house party" vibe, and it wasn't long before their Sunday night shows were packing in 700-1000 people even on the coldest nights of Winter.

As word spread , famous guests began to drop in on the Greazy shows, including Harry Connick, Jr., Cindy Lauper, Lisa Loeb who chilled on the Greazy Couch, and Chaka Khan who sat in with the Meal on her classic "Tell Me Something Good."

In 1996, the band released their first CD of original tunes that leaned heavily on their funk/soul beginnings. That disc, "Visualize World Greaze" was soon followed by a remix album of those songs entitled "Digitalize World Greaze". They released their 3rd CD in the Summer of 1998, entitled "Gravy".

In the summer of 1999, after a long and interesting run, The Meal called it quits. Then, in January of 2003, they decided to get together to perform a series of shows at the Cabooze for a benefit aiding the people of Zimbabwe. The shows were a tremendous success, selling out two of three nights. Audience and band alike had a tremendous time.

In fall of 2004, Greazy Meal released their 4th CD, "Universe's Baby", featuring all eight of the "classic" lineup. The album was based upon a whirlwind week of sessions in Minneapolis in March, and was finished over the summer by members contributing via the internet from Minneapolis, LA and Italy (and on the road in various locations throughout the US). The band continues to perform when possible.

Members of the band have played with The Artist, Jessie Johnson, The Commodores, The Rembrandts, Jonny Lang, Semisonic, The Honeydogs, and Blue Man Group. The Meal has toured throughout the U.S. and Canada.
