Baptized in the rich gospel/soul and R&B traditions set forth by his predecessors comes writer, singer and producer J.R.



Born in the small town of Columbus, Mississippi, and raised in a military family living all over the globe, J.R. started writing and arranging his first songs at the age of 6, and began singing and touring with a youth gospel group in his father's church by the age of 9. When his father decided to settle in the small city of Sumter, South Carolina, J.R. used music and sports as a way to deal with the often slow pace of small, southern towns. It was while attending high school that J.R. figured out his gift was unique enough to pursue professionally, and at the urging of his English teacher, he entered a local talent show, won first prize, and the spark ignited into a flame.



After sneaking backstage at a Jon B. concert in his second year of college, J.R. impressed him enough to be contacted by Jon's management company and was encouraged to relocate to Atlanta where he could get his feet wet as a writer.



Now a seasoned craftsman, J.R. has formed the writing team RADIOACTIVE with amazing writer/artist Brittani White and is currently penning hits for many of your favorite artists. RADIOACTIVE has been blessed to collaborate with platinum-selling producers J.R. Rotem (Sean Kingston, Brittney Spears, Rick Ross) Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, DJ Frank E (FloRida's "Right Round") Carlos Mckinney (J. Holiday, The-Dream), Drummaboy (Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Plies) and many, many others. He cites it as a "huge blessing to be tapped to work with so many incredibly talented individuals".



J.R. cites influences from the usual suspects like Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, and Marvin Gaye, but is quick to add “these artists have inspired me, but I would never try and imitate the sounds of legends, I simply draw from their mastery and try to add another chapter to the story”I thank God for all of his many blessings in my life.the video below expresses that.Look for great things from RadioActive in 2010 and beyond!!!!
