Punk’s not dead, it just went to the mall. But hanging out back, cutting class and dreaming of a life beyond ten-minute fads and mediocrity, are a new pack of kids waiting for their turn to spray-paint the walls. Like their contemporaries, Broadway Calls and The Loved Ones, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s very own Goodbye Etc. want to help carry the tattered but still vibrant flag of melodic punk sewn by bands like Green Day, The Ramones, and The Descendents into the new century.

Goodbye Etc. got going in summer 2007 when drummer Gee Lima responded to an ad put up by vocalist/guitarist John Skyler. The two clicked instantly in terms of influences (“You like Green Day AND The Cranberries! Whoa!”) and work ethic (they'd both converged on Philly to join "real" bands). Bassist TJ Baker came soon after and brought along with him a sense of melody and bounce that was just what the band was looking for. With a full lineup in place (a trio is plenty), the band began playing as many shows as they could around Philly and the northeast, bashing out the songs that would become Last Gasp, their debut EP. Together less than three months, but confident in their sound, the band booked studio time at Soundmine Recording up in the woods in East Stroudsburg, PA. Produced by Dan Malsch (Bigwig) and mixed and mastered by Paul Leavitt (Senses Fail, Circa Survive), Last Gasp is a collection of catchy down-on-your-luck punk rock informed by bands like Green Day, Alkaline Trio, MXPX, and Screeching Weasel.

Playing these songs (as well as an ever-growing batch of new ones) up and down the east coast, the band has had the fortune to share the stage with the likes of The Pink Spiders, Cruiserweight, Desoto Jones, Bridge and Tunnel, I Am The Avalanche, as well as a ton of other grunge, thrash, pop, and rock bands they love and respect.

So, with their EP in hand and an intense desire to travel the world, live the life, and overthrow Nickelback, Goodbye Etc. are hitting the road and playing for anybody ready to sing and scream along.
