Glycerin's new release, Beneath the Surface, is a collection of ethereal pop songs, gilded with orchestral elements and ambient textures. Bathed in a melancholy sheen, Anna's soaring vocals speak to themes of love and loss, while rich electronic sounds weave within the graceful string arrangements by Bay area composer JooWan Kim.

Motionless, their debut CD released in 2008 on Red Session Records, fused electronic dance elements and pop sensibilities. Half of the songs from Motionless have been placed on TV, including, Real World - Hollywood, Living Lohan, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Styl'd and the MTV Movie Awards. Several dance remixes from Motionless have been released on Red Session Records and a variety of CD compilations.

Glycerin has performed in large club venues up and down the west coast, including Vanguard, Supperclub (SF), Empire Ballroom, and in several large outdoor festivals, like Fuente Eterno, Elysium Festival and Alma Paradiso.

Anna, born in Korea and raised in Dallas, TX, performed as a singer, songwriter in Los Angeles prior to forming Glycerin. She also fronts the indie electro band Little Birds of Los Angeles.

Rich's previous projects include co-founding Wifflefist, an arts collective once described as a cross between an indie record label and alternative circus. His two primary Wifflefist projects were Polycarp, a queasy listening ensemble, and Friend Side Monkey, a live electronica outfit.

Glycerin: Breaking New Ground in the DJ Worldby Tina M. Courtney

Los Angeles-based electronic band Glycerin is one such trailblazer. The group consists of Rich Media, producer extraordinaire, and Anna Song, an infectious presence with a set of angelic pipes. Rich creates multifaceted, heavily textured music and effects that meld perfectly with Anna’s fiery, sexy vocals. What makes Rich’s efforts most impressive is the organic nature of their live shows. Anna’s vocals don’t change, and neither does the base sound of Rich’s compositions, but Glycerin are a duo of crowd-readers, and can up the ante whenever it’s required. Read more.
