Me …

I like having things to do while the sun's out but am currently sans day-job, doing bits of all sorts to keep the wolves from the door. When it's dark I like to play bass with great music people and I spend a lot of time (but not enough) watching gigs, pimping bands I like, networking and looking for new musical projects. Oh, and although it does vary dramatically from month to month, I'll admit that I spend way too much time online.

Music huh? …

A music lover first, bassist second, and some way behind that a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, lyricist and erstwhile keyboardist and saxophonist. Also an out of practice lover (not a fighter). One day I might add writer to that list.

Rich Webb: I met Melbourne-based Rich through his brother Dave around 2005 when he was in London and had an urge to gig. He spent an afternoon teaching me sketches of his songs and since then have been wielding my bass and singing some backup for his European tours; autumn '07, spring & autumn '08 and winter '09 dates, as well as arranging and recording with him at Horus Studios in Hannover, Germany in '08 for 'Beautiful World' and 'The Armchair Sessions'.

'Beautiful World' was released in Europe in November '09 to great reviews and no doubt we'll be back on Das Road again in support really soon. You can buy 'Beautiful World' as well as the 2007 album 'Overboard' and all the related singles and EPs from the usual download and real record stores.

Absolutely adore working with this gem of a gent; in a studio we're inspired but on the road we're formidable - in glorious full band formation or flying lean as the trio.

Danny Valentine & The Meditations: I met Danny around 2002ish when we were both playing with the darkly hypnotic Evi Vine. Having been an enraptured member of his audience since he formed this band I was genuinely honoured to be asked to become a Meditation, take over bass duties and allow my old Mothband and $hots compadré Rosco back onto 6-string where he was born to be.

Their first single - a double A side of Architect of My Love / Killing Floor - had a worldwide release in 2008 and is available on itunes (physical print has now sold out). The next outing "The Lion, the Fish and the Bear" EP is scheduled for release very soon and will include [don't think/don't feel], Queen of E, Mass Kub and Yr Jb.

Currently playing live with these guys and the beautifully melodic (or is it 'melodically beautiful'?) Super Superbs, working on the debut album over this summer and generally having a blast!

Tell me about MySpace …

I came to here for the music, but developed an addiction to reading and commenting on MySpace blogs, which eventually rekindled my desire to write. I guess I've become a sometime writer of short blog-type things, ramblings and occasional hack-poetry. There's at least one novel in me, but sadly there’s never been the motivation to start it.

I've also made some amazing connections on MySpace and some beautiful friendships. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to meet many MyFolks in Britain and across Normerrica on several roadtrips. By and large everyone I've met so far has restrained their psychopathic tendencies and I made it out alive with great memories and a photo for pretty much each of the 8,000 miles traveled.

For my music and writer recommendations, see below or trawl my friends list. Be polite - many of them will eat you alive. Actually don't be polite - most of them will probably prefer that!

Oh, and I'm always open to new bass thumping opportunities - drop me a line!

please try to remember that this is MY space…

I am here to find good music, writers and people, to write a bit, promote my music and to blog-dick.

Not to hook up. (Although… you know.)

In general, I don't immediately accept friend/blog subscription requests.

I like to check requesters out when I get the chance. Your private profile isn't helping. Nor is the cut'n'paste 'hello' message (no message at all almost guarantees being ignored). You should realise that guilt is your best weapon!

No Hello Message = Rejected Request

Spamming my Comments (or trawling my Friends List and spamming them) gets you reported.

(depending on my mood - if you're smart and funny, you'll probably be forgiven)
