Mugwump's Geoffroy & Kolombo are part of the currently booming Belgian export dance scene and are probably Belgium's most prolific dance-music artists.
After their seminal, 2008 slo-mo disco classic "Boutade" 12' on Ewan Pearson's Misericord imprint (a track that simply refuses to die, recently featured on Tensnake's "In the House" compilation for Defected and tagged by London's Phonica records as their "most requested release ever") and a massive follow-up , "Yanja", also released in 2008 (on Rob Mello's Disco 45 imprint) that became a permanent fixture in both Michael Mayer & Sven Väth's sets, they started to release, in a short span of around two years, what has become an impressive set of genre-denying and paradoxal 12's plus exclusive compilation tracks, not only on some of the most influential techno labels (Cocoon, Gigolo, R&S and Kompakt of course), but also on fledging cosmic/disco imprints such as Eskimo, Permanent Vacation, Endless Flight/Mule Musiq and most recently on The Rapture's Throne of Blood label. Indeed their music spectrum is pretty wide and anti-confomist, yet totally accessible and massive on the floors, fusing disco aesthetics together with modern techno leanings, messing psychedelic electronic house with a Belgian New-Beat touch. And their music has been heavily supported from every corner by the likes of Michael Mayer, Sven Vath, Andy Weatherall, Craig Richards, Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson, Sasha, Tiga, Brodinski, The Rapture, Jokers of The Scene, Serge Santiago, Prins Thomas, Simian Mobile Disco, Trevor Jackson, Ellen Alien, Hot Chip, Damian Lazarus, Adam Marshall, Mark E, Dominik Eulberg, Dubfire, Justin Robertson, Michael Reinboth, Ashley Beedle, DJ Hell, The Glimmers, Chris Duckenfield, Kiki, Ellen Alien, Deetron, Peter Kruder, Marc Romboy, Pete Herbert, Mock & Toof, Mr Scruff, Aeroplane, Dominik Eulberg, Clement Meyer and many, many more.
After all these prolific and succesful releases plus remixes on Kompakt and the über-hip International Feel label, more numerous remix offers naturally came up and this summer 2010, they've completed loads of them for bands such as Canada's Shout Out Out Out Out (coming up with extra Emperor Machine & Headman mixes) and the UK's O.Children (on Deadly People), plus more mixes for cool imprints such as On the Prowl (Runaway's label), Under The Shade, Astrolab, Belgium's Doctor Vinyl and Spain's Love Monk, all set to be released in Fall/winter 2010/11. And they are now working hard on their debut full LP with loads of cool vocal featurings.
DJ-wise, MUGWUMP's GEOFFROY has solid experience of working different crowds with an obviously broad range of electronic dance music and an ability of playing long sets (depending on the parties he's booked to dj) with electronic house, cosmic techno or low-slung disco, and a hint of (forgotten) classics. He's starting now a new monthly residency at Lille's brand new Magazine club, alongside The Glimmers and Justin Roberston. KOLOMBO & GEOFFROY perform their semi-live sessions together, as MUGWUMP DEX n FX, tweaking new & unreleased versions of all Mugwump tracks with added keyboards, fx and samples, live in the mix AND also play driving MUGWUMP dj sets TOGETHER.
