In a city known infamously for its loyalty and unwavering support, it should be a given that Boston breeds champions. But the sports arena isnt the only place you will find Bostons Finest.
DJ Geespin, a true champion in his own right, has been bringing home the gold for years and has lent a hand to many of New Englands most promising talent, insuring that the industry will never have a shortage of Boston based All Stars.
Born and raised in the Boston area, Geespin started his career as a nightclub DJ and quickly became known for bringing the party to any venue he touched. His vast knowledge in many music genres, in addition to his incredible turntable skills, kept Geespin in heavy demand throughout the New England nightlife scene. In no time, this DJ had created such a serious buzz for himself and his craft, that in 2001, Roy Barboza, a DJ and radio personality, presented Geespin with an opportunity to join Bostons 1 hip hop and R&B radio station, JAMN 94.5 FM and assist him with a late night radio show mix.
This was the once in a life time situation that Geespin had hoped for and eventually used this as the catalyst to live out his dreams, as well as give back to the music scene and community within Boston. Adding commercial radio show host to his resume, in 2002 Geespin smashed the airwaves with The Launch Pad, his own weekly radio program, which premiers the hottest, street flavored new music from national, as well as local artists. "This was something that I had played out in my bedroom a million times, but now I actually had a radio show, on the best station in the city, it was unreal". The Launch Pad took off and became so successful that Geespin was offered a prime time radio slot in addition to his weekly show. He can be found roaming the airwaves daily from 10a - 2p, mixing the hottest old skool jams @ noon, and Sunday nights from 10p - Midnight on The Launch Pad.
In addition to his work with JAMN 94.5 FM, Geespin is also an Executive A&R for Mass Appeal Records, which is home to one of Bostons most promising and heavily buzzing talents, Dre Robinson, who's first full -length album, entitled This is Me will be released in spring of 2006, and will be distributed by Universal Music.
In addition to all he has accomplished in Boston, Geespin has traveled and receive recognition on a national level, as well. In 2002, he was given the "DJ Threat Award" for the rookie radio DJ of the year (Power Summit) and in 2005 was awarded the highly acclaimed title, "East Coast DJ of The Year" (Power Summit). He is also a member of the world famous Core DJ's and down with Kayslay's Streetsweeper crew.
When not on the road or on the radio, Geespin can be found spinning at a number of New Englands best nightclubs. Always returning to his roots as a club DJ, he is still one of the most highly noted and respected in the scene. A living legend, if you will, indeed one of best, straight out of Boston, and beyond.
