G. Wallace is a child of the funk. I don't know if his parent's were making love to Curtis Mayfield when he was conceived, or if the universe was just feeling particular groovy on the day he was born, neither would really surprise me. I do know that as a child he took the Fresh Prince a lot more serious than most kids. You can see that echo in his particularly unique swagger, that swagger that drops jaws when he steps on stage and turns the most stone faced cats into funky dance machines. I've watched weak shows explode into Roman Orgies during G. Wallace performances and have been left amazed, confused, wondering where did a white boy from the New Jersey suburbs learn to move like that?

How did one of the greatest local skateboarders (which he is) in the tri-state area figure out how to flow in that Bone Thugs N Harmony on sunshine acid cadence he is renowned for? I have my theories, theories that involve cosmic reincarnations and karmic energies left over from dance halls and seedy jazz clubs and early New York sidewalk ciphers, but really, much like trying to figure out the nature of the universe, I will never know for sure. All we can know is that G. Wallace is a cultural link to a bygone era of Golden Hip Hop. Just listen for the ghosts of Brand Nubian, Grand Puba and Heavy D. all haunting his lyrics and flow, listen closely, they are there, sculpting his very nature. But don't get it confused, G. Wallace isn't a throw back emcee or an imitator of his influences, he is a conjurer, a funk fueled sorcerer giving you a glimpse of the past and good look at the future.
