Welcome to The Hotel Caledonia, 2011, the space where I hang out, eat Fair Trade bananas and do cool stuff with my space friends.
Delighted to report that THE DEAL is going down rather well in all corners of the globe. BIG thanks to the kind people who have contacted me to let me know how much they are enjoying the music. May I congratulate you on your excellent taste! A chap in New Zealand told me he played it at his birthday bar-b-q a couple of days ago and it made the perfect compliment to an evening of good food and fine wine. So, if you are planning a bar-b-q or entertaining guests, or maybe a fun night in on your own, might I suggest you arrange the procurement of a copy without delay! I hear it works equally well with curries, doner kebabs and beer. Get your copy at www.gavinsutherland.net (band website link to the left).GREEN MATTERS: In an effort to minimize impact on our precious earthly resources THE DEAL is available on special edition CDs in cardboard sleeves, each one numbered and signed.Or DOWNLOAD THE DEAL, NOW!! . . . click HERE and follow the link to www.inzu.net/themarket.
You'll find my last album, Diamonds and Gold at amazon and CD Baby. It's also downloadable from iTunes. There's another Gavin Sutherland out there, a very clever man who conducts orchestras and stuff like that. For obvious reasons our cyberpaths cross from time to time so just mind how you go.BANDOGRAPHY: The musical madness kicked off in 1967 when I left school to join big brother's band, A New Generation. Then came The Sutherland Brothers Band, Sutherland Brothers and Quiver (a decade of gigs, recording studios, hotels, gigs and more recording studios, hotels, gigs, recording studios, hotels and gigs) and then numerous wee bands including The Rockets, The Red Sierras and The Wireless Brothers. Oh, yeah, and I've done a couple of solo albums, one for Moonshine Records (Holland) and one for Corazong Records (Netherlands). The Dutch have impeccable taste. I have a passion / addiction for writing and recording songs and music and look after a small (but beautiful) studio in North East Scotland. THIS WEEK'S TOP LISTEN:
Ska, Rock Steady and Reggae.
THIS WEEK'S TOP READ: Dr Ernst Friedrich (I think he was German) Schumacher's "Guide for the Perplexed." Like the man from the Observer said, "A condensation of a vast and refreshingly unorthodox system of ideas." There ain't half been some clever bastards! Sans Peur
