DESCRIPTION:
I first got "Hollywood Town Hall", by the Jayhawks some 19 years ago, when a pal, told me, I'd dig it. The friend had be sooo wrong before, but for some reason, I went with this recommendation. I'm glad I had because to me, the record certainly holds the test of time. In fact, as you'll see, Gary Louris understands why it does. The Jayhawks, are so seldom recongnized for their achievements and contributions. Imagine if you're credited with creating a whole sub genre of music. We likely wouldn't have Wilco, Blue Rodeo or some of your favorite alt.country bands without them.
Note: We flubbed the name of Mark Olson and Gary Louris' duet record "Ready for the Flood" which you definitely want to own.
"Before for the Flood", is the classic Bob Dylan record, while "Wake of the Flood" is one of my favorite Grateful Dead records. Sorry for all the confusion!!
