Call it karma if you are looking for an explanation of how these two naturally laidback & talented producers first met and got started working together as the Galaxy Group.

As it happened, Antoine Green (Capitol A) and Charles Spencer hooked up in San Francisco a couple years back when Charles’ studio was above a well known San Francisco record shop , And though neither knew anything of the other at the time, nor about what each had been doing individually up to that time. Capitol A liked what he heard and eventually asked for a remix for the Cosmic Flux label he was running.

Then they began trading records and listening to music together. Capitol A was involved in broken-beat, hip hop and nu-jazz material coming from him and his UK crew and Charles had long been on a deep house trip. At some point, Antoine had revealed he also was an artist and producer who called himself Capitol A and suggested they work together, one of the results was a remix of one of his tunes, a brukhouse number called ‘Serve it Up’. Sonar Kollektiv scooped their remix up in 2006… and so the Galaxy Group was born.

Over the next couple of years Charles and Cap continued to trade ideas and work on original productions.

This is Who We Are is the culmination of that time spent in the studio. The twelve-track debut LP is rooted in dance but not constrained by tempo or format. The LP draws on the duos backgrounds in deep house, broken-beat and hip hop and takes things in exciting new directions from the jump with fresh material that is immensely varied - from the punchy hip-house stomper “Out of Control”, to the future jazz direction of tunes like ‘Ease Back” and ‘ Fast Pace”, to the grab your roller skates hip hop vibe of ‘Let’s Get Closer’.

This is Who Are features guest appearances by Philly-based soul singer Lady Alma on “Never too Late’ and ‘Don’t Play’ and Chicago diva Carla Prather on ‘Out of Control’ and “Back to You’. Nomumbah percussionist Rafael Moraes guests spots on “January Beach’ and UK soul singing free spirit Tawiah blesses her voice on “Let’s get Closer’ , Multi Flavoured Musicman Mark de Clive Lowe tickles the keys on 2 of the albums tunes. !!!!!!
