THE CHANNEL

Fungus 53 is the nasty little spider hole on XM Satellite Radio where punk, ska and hardcore find their foul home. Other misbegotten musical styles can be heard there as well including cowpunk, psychobilly, Oi!, surf and industrial.

The channel is programmed and hosted by award winning radio legend Lou Brutus. He is a veteran of over 2000 concerts around the world of every variety including 50 shows by The Ramones! He has seen virtually ever major and minor artist of the genre since its inception in the 1970's. He's had drinks with Johnny Thunders, Yoo Hoo with Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer of The Clash once bummed a cigarette off of him. It remains one of the happiest moments of his life.

If you want to contact Lou Brutus directly at XM you can do so by writing to fungus@xmradio.com. Of course, you can send him a message thru here as well. You should also check out his home web site at loubrutus.com and his MySpace page here.

You can contact Fungus DJ Russ Brown's MySpace page here.

This site has been set up for Fungus 53 listeners and bands to get together and have some fun online. We've got photos up of various artist visits to XM and a bit of audio of some of the cool stuff that goes in between the tunes on Fungus 53.

Hope you enjoy this slice of Fungus 53 and trust that you'll remember the words of the late Joe Strummer, "We're all in this together!"
