My name is Alex (Also Known As Fresk Beats). I am 18 years old. I have been producing for almost 4 years now and have learnt how to produce on a number of different music software packages. I have 11 GCSE's and 3 AS levels and I am currently doing a BTEC in Music and Sound Production!
I started producing when I was 14 years old using a demo of Fruity Loops 6. I then managed to get my hands on the full version of FL6 a little while after. I started off like most people do, not knowing what to do and what anything did, but I continued to practice and practice and after a while on my own I learned the basics of how to make a very basic beat with no real structure. However, no matter what my beats were sounding like, I continued to practice making a beat everyday, gaining more experience and knowledge about how to create a beat. A few months later I got FL7, which was basically the same as FL6, but I wanted to make sure I had the latest software!
When I turned 15, I started becoming better and better at creating my own instrumentals and my understanding of Fruity Loops was increasing learning how to use the effects, etc. I was then introduced to basic song structures (as before my beats had no real structure to them), for example 16 verse, 8 chorus repeated and as time went on I began learning how to structure my beats into proper songs for singers/MC's to use. I then moved on to Reason 3. I continued to produce as many beats as I could to gain an understanding in how Reason worked and gain confidence in producing on Reason. I mostly taught myself how to use Reason, however I did recieve some of the basics to get me started from a friend. My beats started to improve dramatically, gaining interest from nearby friends who MC'd and MC's around the London area. I then learnt how to mix, so that my beats would sound more professional and less muddy, improving the quality of my beats even more. I then got hold of Reason 4, which was basically the same bar a few new sounds.
I now produce on Reason 5 and Logic 9, plus I am also learning how to use Pro Tools! I have produced 3 singles which have been available to download from iTunes "Funky Junkie - Mozart" gaining over 2000 downloads. "Flying Soo High - S.G Ft. Roshan". "Partyholic - Mozart Ft. D-Soul". The official music video for "Funky Junkie" was also on Channel AKA's free request show gaining a lot of air play! I am currently working with a number of MC's & singers such as: S.G, PNA, Ddotyounger, Bossman Static, Zoey and many more.
