_____Spokesman Review ///JANUARY 11, 2008______

"More than a decade ago, local hip-hop fixture Freetime Synthetic was a part of pretty much the only rap crew that played shows at local bars like Mootsy's and Fort Spokane

Freetime Synthetic has been a fixture in SPokane's hip-hop scene for nearly a decade

Even that crew, Upper Class Racket, pushed the boundaries of hip-hop, as it was essentially a punk band fronted by two emcees, Synthetic and the legendary Erik Beats

The band eventually split up and Beats moved to Portland, but Synthetic has been holding it down as a diehard hip-hop motivator, whether as a soloist or in a group with OMT crew, his brand new Gun of the Sun project, and as the elder statesman of the Bad Penmanship rhyme collective

He's shared bills with nearly every subgenre of hip-hop, along with various forms of rock, spoken word and improv art. Synthetic will build with anybody who is open-minded and hardworking. He's not bound by any clique, scene or style"
