Not many people know this, but the name of our online shop is actually derived from Hollywood megatalent Fred Astaire. We're always believed that great design should be as fun and entertaining as an old musical or a modern music video. We hope fred flare reflects this idea with a sparkling pop presentation of some of our favorite things.



When we moved to NYC from Chicago, we couldn't believe the stores here! We'd stroll around town window shopping and dreaming of making products to sell the boutiques we admired. In 1998 we produced our first item, a pad of disposable drink coasters that we sold off the back of a bike in SoHo. <



Gradually, the fred flare line grew to include stationery, home decor items and accessories, available at stylish emporiums around the globe. Now we're so excited to have out own "boutique" on our fred flare website, where we feature our house brand as well as tons of other brands we love. You can count on us to bring you great new items each week as well as lots of make-you-smile content: interviews, trivia, recipes, insiders guides to NYC and much more. This of us as your hots on a weekly variety show. Let's dance!



fred flare, the retail brainchild of architect Chris Bick and graphic designer Keith Carollo, is a sparkling pop presentation of make-you-smile fashion and home items. Design-savvy yet young at heart, the store features well-known American designers and their indie friends from around the world, kawaii Japanese imports, delicious cookbooks, handmade and vintage surprises, gadgets, gags and novelties.
