Many of us remember the 21 year old Fred live on MTV involved in everything from walking for cheesecake to fighting fellow band members, but few of us know the story behind the Freddy P that the streets know and admire.



Although many feel like a hot freestyle in line at Da Band auditioning and a couple of hot 16?s is what brought Freddy P to the limelight but this is not your typical hood to Hollywood story. Born Fred Watson in November of 1981 to the gritty streets of Dade County?s Liberty City, ?Freddy P? is not ashamed to address his upbringings. ?I?m from the dirty we don?t even know the price of soap? a line you may remember from Freddy P?s stand out verse on the Da Bands hit song ?Why?. No stranger to street life, Fred understands the need to make music that as the power to reach out and touch people. Love from the streets combined with a faith in God is what has kept Fred focused. ?I have very close relationship with God; I feel that with all of the situations and close calls that I done been through and made it out alive that God has a bigger plan for me.?



A part of that plan, at least is Fred?s eyes, is to become a force to be wreckin with in this industry. Feeding off what he feels to be a lack of originality and raw talent in rap he stresses the importance of remaining genuine even in the face of an industry known for being fake. ?You have to be able to separate the sharks from the guppies, and I got my eye on all these niggas?. Hailing from a city which boats artists such as Trick Daddy, Luke and Trina, Fred feels like he brings his own sound and style to the Miami rap roster. ?When people hear my music I want them to feel like I?m having a conversation with them? and that he does. ?I want to show my young boys that that there is more to this life than the streets?.



Currently working on his solo project as well as putting in hard work on the mix tape circuit, Fred is now positioning his pieces to eliminate the pawns in this game and take his rightful place as one of the Kings. Checkmate?
