Frank Hamilton, founding teacher of the Old Town School of Folk Music, teaches the "Basic Pete Seeger Strum" for banjo. Frank's banjo is tuned to the open G tuning.
After demonstrating the strum for the chords of G, C and D7, Frank shows how they fit into a song by playing a chorus of This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie.
This video was made by Jason McInnes, a teacher at the Old Town School of Folk Music. For more information on taking classes at the Old Town School, visit www.oldtownschool.org.
