A DJ unlike any you’ve ever seen before, Franco de Leon uses not only the turntables, but a keyboard, a guitar, drum pads, and a laptop, (all played LIVE) to remix, mash, blend, and scratch his way through exciting, audience-amazing, crowd-friendly, sets.
If you’ve been out at club in the Chicago land area, there’s a decent chance you’ve heard one of his many remixes, played by other DJs.
He’s a DJ for any audience - demonstrating a love for a wide array of music, from Hip Hop to Indie Rock, from House to Soul, combining all these to make seamless experiences designed to get the party rockin’. He has been a featured DJ for Hip Hop Club Nights, House Club Nights, Outdoor City Festivals, Breakdancing Competitions, and of course, countless Warehouse Parties, Lofts and Raves.
A native of Chicago, Franco is a multi-disciplined DJ and musician who utilizes his decades of experience as a guitarist, a DJ, a studio engineer, music producer, and live performer to create a great time for the crowd. From his extensive work as a Chicago Resident Club DJ, to his international travels as a Hip Hop Tour DJ, to his work in music studios, as both musician and engineer, and even to his appearances as a special event personality, Franco de Leon has combined all these things to create a one-of-a-kind, live musical experience that has garnered the praise of even the most critical music audiences.
He has been featured in news publications across the globe, locally as Metromix MMX Pick, Critic's Choice in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Reader, with a full-length feature in Ill Skillz Magazine, as well as features in dozens of University Publications, blog reviews, and European Publications.
He also has extensive credited work (in a variety of capacities) for major record labels (including Grammy Award Winners Rhymefest, and Malik Yusef, as well as Blues Traveler’s John Popper), corporate advertisements, television networks, theater and performance art, and of course, independently funded projects in a broad variety of genres.
As a musician, DJ, music producer, and special events host he has spent most of his gig time in the last three years traveling. He has appeared on stages throughout Germany, as well as Brighton (England), Montreal (Canada), Chicago (IL), St. Paul (MN), Detroit (MI), Nashville (TN), San Antonio (TX), Boston (MA), Los Angeles (CA), San Francisco (CA), Oakland (CA), Milwaukee (WI), Cleveland (OH), Anchorage (AL), Ann Arbor (MI), Amherst (MA), Kalamazoo (MI), Cicero (IL), Countryside (IL), Schaumburg (IL), Blue Island (IL), Lincoln Park (MI), Glendale Heights (IL), Champaign-Urbana (IL), and Brookfield (IL).
