In January 2nd, 2007 a guitar player by the name of “Chris X” and a bass player who is known as “Mr. Madden” came together on a little corner of the Earth known as “The Studio Overlook.” Residing there, a percussionist and budding sound entrepreneur known as Lucius A. Watts hosted the day long collaboration of music and mischief. The purpose of the gathering was to put the live pieces of the puzzle together known as “WATTS INKORPORATED,” an industrial rock project created by Lucius A. Watts. The resulting chemistry between the three musicians started to shift their focus from the “WATTS INK.” project to a more organic brand of music. The new outfit was soon dubbed “Switchblade 13,” due to “Mr. Madden‘s“affinity for switchblade knives.

Months of writing and rehearsing ensued and the unit soon hashed out a slew of musical skeletons. The induction of another percussionist/sampler named “Corn” provided another layer of heavy underneath Watts aggressive drumming. More months of writing and demoing took place and the need to put a mouth on this monster became more apparent. The group would look no further than former Chamber 6 vocalist and long time friend of Watts, Brian Owen. Lyrics were strewn across the already existing musical foundation that had been their outlet and the first songs were complete. The creative engine kept firing, pushing out an albums worth of solid material. The 5 musicians would now be identified by a new moniker, “FourZeroAlpha.”

Written from January – June, and recorded June – November ’07, “Dead Music” became the debut album by FourZeroAlpha. The album was produced by FourZeroAlpha, and recorded by drummer Lucius “Trey” Watts & Vocalist Brian J. Owen at The Studio Overlook in Lexington, SC. It was mixed & mastered by Dennis Steel at Trax Side Studios.

In the midst of recording “Dead Music;” percussionist/sampler, Corn, would depart FourZeroAlpha to pursue other ventures. The 4 remaining noise merchants would now prepare the album artwork, packaging details, & merch. A College radio interview would precede the first show on Nov. 5, ’07. Over the next year, FourZeroAlpha would travel the Tri-state area (SC,NC,GA) on what would be dubbed "The Dead Music Tour".
