HEAVEN'S BURNING (Reviewed on StonerRock.com)

Like most of the bands in this far-reaching, ill-defined genre, Sabbath's an obvious influence (and if we had to whittle it down to a song or two, it'd be “Children of the Grave” and “Hole in the Sky”), but glowering under the surface of the usual fat, stoner grooves is some Unsane-like rhythms and the vicious upper cut of Slayer on a hungover day. Good stuff, somewhat reminiscent of Greenmachine's The Archives of Rotten Blues, or the last time you got pushed down a flight of stairs. I don't know if this will be another under appreciated classic, but I do know I liked it plenty. This profile was edited with Thomas' Myspace Editor V3.2b

THE VULTURE’S ARRIVE (2006)

The followup album to Floating Goat’s 2002 release HEAVEN’S BURNING, THE VULTURES ARRIVE was recorded over a span of two and a half years as the band was forced into hiatus due to the year long absence of bassets Ian Petitpren. Unable to find a replacement for Ian, Aaron and Chris forged on with what resulted in these nine smoking tracks of classic Floating Goat heaviness. Returning in time to lay down the bass tracks,

Ian rejoined the trio. The album was completed with the help of John McBain who provided an excellent ear for mixing and a load of sonic wisdom.
