SPEEDCAR SUPER SERIES

It’s been 6 years since The Flattrakkers kicked off their rockabilly journey and what a drive it’s been. In 2007 the boys released their debut album High Octane, this was a real blast with the album being very popular and selling extremely well across Australia, Sweden, America and New Zealand. To this day, the album is still gaining momentum and attention all around the world with the tunes being featured in many a hot rod doco (in at least three countries) and the title track also gets a run in Charlie & Boots – the latest Paul Hogan movie.

The Flattrakkers were constantly giggin’ near and far and word quickly spread that these guys are a must to see. The band is Mark Hawkins (guitar & vocals), Bruce Findlay (drums) and Matt Ward (double Bass) and the constant interest resulted in some great gigs including GreazeFest (QLD), Narooma Blues & Roots Festival (NSW), Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival (NSW) and regular trips to Sydney (NSW).

2008 saw the release of The Flattrakkers second album Speedcar Demon - this one sure proved just as popular as the first and really showcases the “High Octane Hot Roddin’ rockabilly sound” the boys produce live. The title track was written for use as the official theme song of the Speedcar Super Series 2009 and so dedicated that they’ve decided to keep using it in 2010.

Since bursting onto the rockabilly scene The Flattrakkers have continued to raise the stakes in both Australia and overseas featuring and reviewed in Cruizin Magazine (AUS), Street Machine (AUS), Old School Rods (USA), Car Kulture Deluxe (USA) just to name a few and are a regular drawcard to major events and festivals including; GreazeFest (QLD), Tamworth Country Music Festival (NSW), Wintersun (QLD), Garterbelts and Gasoline (QLD), Johns Rod & Kustom Picnic (VIC), Kustom Kulture Festival (SA), Launceston Blues & Roots Festival (TAS), Rockabilly Meltdown (VIC) and Chromefest (NSW). In March 2010 the boys travelled to New Zealand for the Beach Hop Festival to a sizzling reception with the organisers quickly locking them in for 2011.

The Flattrakkers are once again busy puttin’ pen to paper, rehearsing and road testing a heap of new tunes and gearin’ up for the third and most anticipated album. It’s sure to please with a brand new bunch of tunes Flattrakkers stylethese guys put the ROCK in ROCKABILLY! Their passion for speedway, hot rods and 50’s music all gel together giving them a true blend of High Octane rockabilly!

Seeing The Flattrakkers live is a real eye-opener, the boys work extra hard to make sure each gig is a new experience always adding new original tunes, some old favourites and a host of cover songs in their own Flattrakkin style including songs from Wayne Hancock, Hank Williams III, Billy Idol, John Fogarty, The Sweet, Louis King, The Stray Cats, Soft Cell, Johnny Cash and yes, even Bruce Springsteen. They’re musically solid with a real infectious beat that will have you tappin’ or dancin’ all night long.
