For those who dont already know, Five Lamps is the place to go for fresh live music and entertainment in Derby. With a full Logic Systems PA rig and a gorgeous 10 x 12ft stage and lighting rig it's perfect for both artists and music lovers.

The reason for this is that we are now getting hundreds of messages every day and cannot sometimes reply to them all as well as the amount of e mails we get !!!
Monday night is Five Lamps Films run by Dal Robinson and Dave Lankester. This is a night which showcases short films by some of the finest local and regional up and coming film makers. The night is proving to be a phenomenal success so do come down and show your support for local filmakers !

Tuesday's and Thursdays are Open Mic nights. Hosted by Lester Norton these nights are open to ANY performer or entertainer. From spoken word to comedy to acoustic and beyond. Please note we have a house drum kit (However on Tuesdays no drums are allowed after 10.30pm), house acoustic guitar, house acoustic bass and a house piano. Drummers please bring stool and breakables.
We also use the open mic nights to look for potential performers for our unplugged nights, or support slots for other booked acts.
Please also note that we do not allow performances on these nights involving recordings or beats. Hip Hop artists you must be accompanied by an musician, unless you are performing accapella or pre written rhymes (please arrange beforehand via e mail)

Wednesdays monthly sees Derby Jazz bring in some of the countries finest Jazz musicians and bands. Keep an eye on this myspace for other Wednesday gigs that will be happening in the future.

Friday and Saturday Nights play host to live bands courtesy of our own brand 'LIVE' or outside promoters and labels. Weekends you can find some of the best up & coming national and regionally based bands showcasing their talents.
One of the gigs we have monthly on a Friday, is Girls with Guitars. A fabulous night showcasing some of the finest female singer songwriters both locally and nationally. Hosted by the fantastic Julie Collings. Check the myspace for more details.

Also monthly on a Friday we have Pianoforte. A night dedicated to the piano and pianists. From contemporary to classical and beyond. Pianists you can just play, or, sing and play. Every Sunday is 'UNPLUGGED'. Expect to be entertained by purely acoustic music no AMPS !!!! A casual sit down affair with music from some of Derby's and indeed the countries finest musicians.
