Follow That Dream were a Norwegian indie band formed in 1985. We released a 4-track EP in '87 and an album in '88, both released on our own, aptly named label Thank You Sir May I Have Another Records and distributed - confusingly, only in Norway - by Swedish indie label MISTLUR. They have never been released on CD, but I still have a few copies of the original vinyl stacked away somewhere. God knows where the master tapes are - or does he? If so, he's never told us, though rumour has it they may be hidden in a vault somewhere deep in a Swedish forest. We played gigs, a few around the country, but most of them in our home town Oslo. Some were great, some were not. Quite a few were rather average. We played in some very empty clubs, and to the occasional full house on a weekend. Anyway; in June 1989 we just gave up - as most bands do, eventually. Why? Why not?

In 2006 I made a radio documentary - MIDDELS SUKSESS ("MODERATELY SUCCESSFUL") about our band. Why not? Well, nobody else would, that's for sure.

The documentary told a story of frightening familiarity for anyone who has ever been in a band. It tried to shed some light on friendship and interaction between very young men, unskilled in the arts of communication and songwriting. The documentary turned out quite well, as it were. It is the story of our band, and also - this was my intention, anyway - of every band that never quite made it. Follow the link in one of the blogs if you have 44 minutes to spare and really, really want to hear it - if so, it will of course be helpful to have some understanding of at least one major Scandinavian language.

Thanks to this page, and to people like you, who drop in while having a look around the myspace music universe, this long gone and never even remotely famous band from Norway now has a sort of low-pressure after-life on the web. If you're not already a friend, now's the time to become one. You know the rules.

Follow That Dream have so far resisted the temptation to reunite, and deserve credit for this belated show of dignity.
