Firework Show is a Charleston, SC based band pushing boundaries and combining influences across the spectrum of the progressive, jam, punk, and funk/soul scenes. At its essence, the band wants to create music that moves people to dance. While anchored down by solid songs and musical structure, the music also strives to create a spontaneous and transcendent experience for both band and audience. Simply put, this band can get you moving with tribal energy and let your mind wander through its music, but can bring you back down to earth with thoughtful lyrics and well planned compositions.

After cutting their teeth in a series of post-punk bands at coffee venues in their hometown of Greenville, South Carolina, Firework Show's founding members Brandon Gallagher and Zach Bodtorf realized together the need to facilitate the marriage of avant-garde and accessibility in their music. Having played together for over ten years, the pair formed Firework Show in 2005 in Charleston, South Carolina where they attended college. In 2007, the lineup was completed with the additions of bassist Casey Atwater and keyboardist Braxton Brown, fellow college students hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan and Conway, South Carolina respectively.

Having opened for acts including Band of Skulls, Jason Isbell, and Dead Confederate, the band has been exposed to a large swath of their hometown's concert-going crowd, attracting a solid, loyal fan base that is branching out into other parts of the southlands and beyond.

PRESS ON FIREWORK SHOW:

”Local rock quartet Firework Show actually stole the show however, with a dynamic and twisting set of their own, much of which was in odd time signatures. Expressive and dramatic, Zach Bodtorf’s mesmeric guitar work soared. Drummer Brandon Gallagher resembled Jucifer’s Ed Livengood as he bashed away on a drum kit with double floor toms. Is Firework Show the best jam band in town that’s actually a punk band? Most likely.” -T. Ballard Lesemann, Charleston City Paper

“A performance by this band is one of those where no matter what you were doing before they came onstage, you had no choice but to be caught up in the moment. Watching these guys live is like you’re not really there…actually more like being cast into where the past of serious Rock N’ Roll collides with violent grace into the future of music” – Stephen Webb, Weareradio.com

”Experimental quartet Firework Show professes a sound that’s part psychedelic rock, part indie soul, creating [what has been described as] ‘space rock’, a concept special to the Lowcountry scene”. –Lisa Ryan, Charleston Post and Courier
