Eau Claire based band Fine writes music beyond their years - the average age of the band is a ripe eighteen. Their sound is both traditional and refreshing, combining classic folk-style instrumentation with novel and ambitious ideas. Rooted in jazz and heavily influenced by their local scene’s elders, Fine brings with them a solid spectrum of songs that not only showoff their incredible talents as young musicians, but captivate the sound of the region they originate from.

In an effort to create a cohesively sound album, the band literally unplugged. The Ends Are Meeting Up Again, for the most part, is entirely acoustic. Each song is carefully crafted around the record’s overall tone. Upright bass, loose percussion sounds and solid drums lay the foundation for each song as the acoustic guitars and banjos cross-stitch over the elegance of the piano and trombone. Noyce writes innocent, empathetic words that fit perfectly over the band’s lush sound and sings them with acute precision while accompanied by beautifully executed harmonies.

The Ends Are Meeting Up Again will be Fine’s debut and farewell record, as they all move onto college. But, view it more as a prelude to, or precursor of, what’s to come from these boys in the next few years in whatever musical endeavors they take on.
