Every once in a while you listen to CD by a new, up-and-coming band and once you're done listening to it you want to tell everyone you know about it. The Protester's Hymn by Fifty Stars Anger has been the album for me ever since I got it.
I found a link on the internet to their myspace.com page where there were four songs to try out in the flash player. Just based on those few songs, i had to check out the whole album as soon as I could after that. The music and the band itself really intrigued me.
The music from those four songs are part of the 13-songs album that will keep you rocking from start to finish. If you're looking for a band that will have you stomping your foot listening to their music, this is the band you're looking for.
Fitting into the punk band label (more-so an authentic punk band, not the Sum 41, blink-182 pop-punk sense of the word), the tempo, the music and lyrics beg to played again and again. It's not too often I'd throw around the title of "next big thing" but if enough people can hear about this band, I have no doubt they could be one of the next big groups to come out of Canada.
The music from the Montreal-based band is very politically driven, as are the band members themselves. One scan of their website and that much is very evident with links to PETA, Amnesty international, War Resisters league and Free Vanunu prominently placed. A lot can be learned by researching what the songs are really about. Tracks like Evolution Zero, Right to Censor, Artificial World, and especially Mordechai Vanunu are good place to start.

Overall rating: 4.5/ 5

"Mind Grenades for the Revolution", Fifty Stars Anger fourth studio album, due out
April 27th 2010 on Indy Rekordz/FAB (Canada) and February 24th 2010 on Fast Circle Records/FCR (Japan), is certainly the most melodic album they ever released. As always FSA's lyrical present a sociopolitical and observational perspectives, blend into a fast punk rock filled with catchy hooks, crazy solos, melodic guitars and powerful vocals.
The new thirteen tracks album recorded at the Indygene Studio in Montreal with the producer Luc Tellier, will keep your head banging, your mouth singing along and open your eyes on political and social issues of today, from first to last.

Formed in 2003, FSA's has rocked all over Canada with many great north American bands. February 2004 they've released their first four songs, "Everything we do is for our country.ep". Having a great response form the Quebec local scene fans, they've got back in studio in 2005 for their first full lenght album called "The protester's hymn". Released in 2006 on Dick Rawk Records, they've hit the road numberous times all over Canada adding 300 shows over their 2 years of touring. With many radio and television appearences, including videos for the songs "Artificial World" and "Evolution Zero", many songs on cd compilations in Canada, United States, Poland, Japan, Australia and UK, they decided to get back in Studio to record the "Waiting for the hurricane" demo. June 2008, they released their four songs demo and got back on the road for 60 shows to promote their demo and tell their fans based that they'll take a little time off in 2009 to write the new upcomming album.

Seven years of musical dedications and 450 shows later, it's now time for those Montreal's punk rockers to hit the road again and party all over the country for another 2 years!
