Good Principle has been in love with music for as long as he can remember. As a young boy sitting under one of the many coconut trees at home in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, he recalls his uncle blarring Bob Marley tunes in the early afternoon. Singing along with each song word for word, it is fair to say that this is where Principle's passion for the art was ignited.

Born Robert Roache to parents Rupert and Beverly, Principle, his twin brother Martin and older brothers Jeffrey and Michael enjoyed performing for their family and friends every chance they had. The four young brothers had their dance routines down and sang to the delight of their mom and dad, and anyone else lucky enough to catch their performance.
As a young boy in Jamaica, Robert attended Monroe College in St. Elizabeth but left after his second year as his family uprooted and moved to New York City when he was 13 years old. Upon arriving in New York in 1985, his parents enrolled him and his siblings, including sister Denise into Evander Childs High School in the Bronx. He focused mainly on his education in high school and went on to graduate with honors in 1989. He, along with his twin brother Martin, then attended the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB).
It was at UB that they met Delano Thompson aka EZ Star, the Firelord Supreme and it was there that Principle's passion for writing and performing music was re-ignited and where the Fountain of Youth was created. What started out as three friends, Robert, Martin, and Delano, listening to hip hop music and freestyling constantly, became three mc's Prince of Peace, Sonchild, and Easy Star aka "The Fountain of Youth", writing and recording songs and performing at college shows and clubs in Buffalo and the surrounding area. The Fountain was honored to open for Outkast and reggae legend Burning Spear on separate occasions. They gained a loyal fan base and promoted a monthly hip hop/spoken word showcase called 'The Movement" that highlighted the best local artists in the community. Though they loved hip hop, Principle and Sonchild were true to their roots and made the best of the opportunities they had to perform Bob Marley songs with Gaga's Grove, a local band that welcomed the Fountain to perform with them. Principle's favorite Marley tunes to perform were 'Iron Lion Zion' and 'So Much Trouble'.
Through it all Robert remained a student who valued education and graduated with a bachelors degree in 1994 and an MBA in 1997. He left Buffalo upon receiving his masters degree and returned home to the Bronx where he began his career as a teacher. The 2009/10 school year marks the 13th year of his teaching tenure at The Monroe Academy for Business and Law, a high school in the South Bronx where he teaches mathematics.
Principle sees the opportunity to teach as a true blessing as it allows him the time to sharpen his song writing abilities. After school/work, Principle finds himself in the studio mastering his craft. He has written and recorded hundreds of songs and he started the Fabulous Fountain Publishing Co. He sees himself as a songwriter as well as an artist and he currently works with various artists in a songwriting capacity. He has a compilation of wonderfully written hiphop/R&B songs, alongside his lengthy list of conscious lovers rock reggae tunes. His influences are Beres Hammond, Luciano, Garnett Silk, KRS ONE, Common and of course Bob Marley, just to name a few.
Sonchild and Principle released the Fountain's first album, "Love Grows on Trees", in 2000 and designed it to touch the souls of music lovers everywhere with its spiritual appeal. Their second album, released in 2002 and entitled "Can't Stop The Fountain", showed them to be extremely gifted songwriters with a unique way of blending their hip-hop and reggae influences. The third album from Good Principle and Martin Sonchild was "The Fountain Brothers", an authentically conscious lovers rock project that received its fair share of airplay in New York. The Fountain of Youth has been featured on compilations produced by Logwood Productions entitled "Step Into The Red" and "Logwood Eruptions Vol. 1". Fountain tunes from these compilations have been aired by WRTN 93.5, WWRL 1600 am, and other stations with Caribbean format in New York City, the Eastern Caribbean and Jamaica. Their songs have been featured on Caribbean reggae programs in New Mexico, Arizona, Atlanta, Florida and California.
Good Principle's first solo album entitiled "Good Principle, That's What's Up", was released in 2004 and includes the biggest dancehall riddims of the day. His lyrics on this album reveals his depth and consciousness. He is currently working on his second project entitled "Man of Principle" to be released in 2010. Principle has not performed consistently since leaving Buffalo and hopes to now regain that momemtum. His summers are spent at home in Jamaica where he is promoting himself, taking advantage of opportunities to perform, and mostly, rocking his baby David to sleep.
