Eyesore Angels

EYESORE Angels are clearly ready to support major bands on national tours on the evidence of this contest.



They're better than some other bands I've seen opening for rockers on the university circuit.



And on the strength of Saturday's winning performance they could even win over arena audiences.



It's not just the members' musicianship, which is obviously strong after several years' playing.



It's their blistering energy and the indefinable quality that gives them great stage presence.



Like 2005 winners Random Hand, another fantastic live act, they impressed even people who didn't like their kind of music. The Angels were so good on Saturday that members of rival bands shouted "they should win".



No wonder, after the ravenous onslaught of three guitars, drums and surely a 24pack of Red Bull.
