New Paradigm in the Music BusinessThings have changed (and they will change again I'm sure). In the past few years since we left Columbia Records we have been offered record deal after record deal. While we found it incredibly flattering, the model just doesn't seem to make sense anymore. Record labels used to find talent, then work with them and nurture them, then connect them with a producer, then market and promote them, then release a record. And in the beginning, if you wanted to be a recording artist, this was the only way.In the last 10 years (more specifically the last 5), the record companies have stopped doing much of the above. And whereas only 10 or so years ago you NEEDED a record company to do things like release a record; today you do not. But furthermore, record labels are a hindrance. In the myspace generation, things move far too quickly for the slow hunkered down record companies that have to run every decision by 14 people in 6 different departments. And as for distribution, I think the day is finally upon us where people are now realizing that having SNOCAP or the like on your myspace page is INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION. Artists can now write a song, record it, and have it up for sale in a week, if not a day. If it's about "customer service" (which is what we were always taught), then what could be better than giving the fan what it wants as soon as possible?

UPDATE:

To that end, we proudly present our latest project, "52 Sundays". Every Sunday (beginning Sept 30, 2007) for the next year, we will release one new song right here on our myspace page and our website (www.evanandjaron.com). There will be no physical CD. No packaging ("Green friendly"). If you don't know how to download music, find an 11 year-old kid to help you out (that's what I did!).

Who are Evan and Jaron?

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Evan and Jaron initially pursued careers as professional baseball players. Although completely committed to an athletic career, Evan always kept their dad's old guitar propped in the corner of his room because he thought it looked cool. With the passage of time, the brothers realized that the guitar might actually get them more girls than the bat. And probably more hits too!

Shortly thereafter, they formed a pop/rock duo, which eventually became known as "Evan and Jaron"-- a radical departure from the act's original name, "Jaron and Evan". After being discovered by Jimmy Buffett, they scored three Top 40 hits, including the Top 10 smash "Crazy for this girl". They have toured with an array of artists, including Sting, Heart, The Dixie Chicks and Maroon5.

After over ten years in the music business, the brothers took a much-needed break to pursue other endeavors, including screenwriting, producing, acting, inventing and Evan even started a family. The brothers currently host a weekly TV show on USA Network called "Character Road Trip" and have recently begun production on an as of yet titled show for MTV that they created.

On Sept 30, 2007 Evan and Jaron launched their groundbreaking project "52 Sundays" in which they will release one new song every Sunday for a year.

They currently split time between Los Angeles and Nashville.
